Crew News

http://www.cumberlandcycles.com/index.html

Well Crew, The Kentucky/Indiana Spring Training Series is half over.  Four races are done, and there are four races left. The Series will conclude with on the weekend of April 19th with two races that weekend in the Louisville area.

What is truly outstanding is the fact that The Cumberland Cycles Racing Crew has had  a total of  31 individual starts in the first four races of the series!  With our great looking uniforms on that many shoulders combined with the overwhelming success of our own race in the Series, Mt. Victory, I believe we are getting noticed!!!!

Even though all of our riders are "long shots"  and not really in striking distance of winning the overall series, we do have several riders who are on the score board in the series. These individual scores belong to Adam Bourne, Debra Fortenberry, Jenny Denney, Aaron Denney, Charles Senters and JT

So far, we have had some good success with the racing - considering that it is technically our first year as an official team. Our highest place to date is that of Adam Bourne, 5th in the CAT 4/5 race at Mt. Victory.  Ms. Debra Fortenberry placed 7th in the women's race at Mt. Victory with Jenny Denney placing 8th in that same race. Charles Senters and JT both had 8th place finishes at the Booneboro Criterium; Charles in the 4/5 race and JT in the 3/4 race.  Aaron Denney placed 9th at Boonsboro as well. The remainder of our finishes have included very good field finishes in the 20 and 30 place range.... which is very respectable considering there are several national champions racing in this series.

Based on these results - I would have to say, we have a team here my friends!!!!!  And this is not counting some very high results from our multi-sport crowd this spring as well!!!

When the series concludes in three weeks, we will begin to race in Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, Arkansas and Ohio.  These races will include stage races, and Omniums. We are headed for a very outstanding racing year!!!  It is all so much more than I expected!!!  God Bless everyone of you - and please let me know what I can do to help you if you'd like to start racing bikes.

I think it would be neat if we could hold a "bike racing" informational seminar at the YMCA sometime soon with some classes on bike racing and some rides to get some interested persons ready to start the series in 2009.

BARNSBURG TIME TRIAL THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 6, AT 2 PM.. This is a non-sanctioned, ride at your own risk event and is open to the public. Please come out and join us.
