Crew News - April 25

Hello Crew!~

With no races scheduled for the weekend coming, JT and Adam Bourne will be traveling to Nashville to ride with JTs Dad on Friday and to ride with the Gran Fondo Team on Saturday Morning (I promise not to allow GF to recruit Adam). I think that Charles Senters will be hosting a 50 mile ride in Nancy on Saturday at about 12 PM. Call Charles for more information..... 416-3002

There will be a 60 mile team ride from the Vision Center at 2 PM on Sunday (to Laural Dam and back). This ride will go straight out hw 192 to Laurel Lake, turn around and come back.  This will be a great ride and I hope we can get everybody out to ride... we all need some longer miles and some hills!

Crew News

Hello Crew!~

For team points standings, race information, Barnsburg TT results, and a backlog of all of my emails, you can visit our team blog:

Cumberland Cycles Crew Club Blog

Road racing and multi-sport events seasons are in full swing!!!  The Road Racing Crew just finished up the Kentucky/Indiana Spring Series with last weekends Lexington Spring Circuit race and many of our multisport athletes participated in the Falling Heart Triathlon last weekend as well.

I am extremely pleased to report that we had a dozen competitors racing in various events last Saturday and our club posted some very outstanding results!!!  First of all, several of our multisport athletes all went to Versailles and placed in the following manner.

Dave Stewart:              1st in division
Dave Zwick:                1st in division
Rick Rice:                   1st in division
DR Swanner:               2nd in division

Wow!!!  Our multi-sports have really kicked in to gear!!!!!  They have all surged forward in our club standings in the hunt for the $300 gift certificate from the shop (to be awarded this fall)

LINK:   CLUB STANDINGS

JT, Brad Herman, Adam Bourne, Aaron Denny and Jack Evans all raced in the Lexington Spring Circuit Race in Lexington last Saturday as well and we had some very good results. First of all, Aaron was able to hang on to the main 4/5 field for an ST (same time) pack finish.   The rest of the road crew raced in the Masters 30+ event which was brutal!  This field contained two national champions and one of the riders has 26 national titles over his career. Jack was able to hang on to the EXTREEMLY FAST pack for more than half the race, and JT and Adam were able to finish 10 and 11 respectively in the main finish.

We want to thank Adam Bourne for his tremendous efforts this spring so far in the Spring Series Races... Adam and JT have raced almost every weekend since the end of February, and Adam has done extremely well. Adam is currently ranked in the top 100 CAT V racers in the Nation!

These are some really great results and I am so pleased!!!  Next year for Cumberland Cycles Crew will be simply outstanding!

After our season is over, we'd like everybody to start thinking about having a club/team dinner or banquet. Probably sometime near the first of October.  We will award the team points winner their gift certificate at that time. Send your ideas to JT or  Marc Travis.

UP AND COMING RACES
No major races scheduled for this coming weekend, but Roger Whitlock will be attending the Monrovia TT Series event on April 29 up in Indiana.

We will have some long team and club rides for Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday:  12 PM at the Vision Center
Sunday:     2 PM at the Vision Center

The month of May will be the busiest for our Road Crew... We will have the Gran Fondo Race, Highland Rim Stage Race, and then Edgar Soto. In fact, after the month of May, racing will slow down just a little bit.

A Message from Marc/Cumberland Cycles

www.cumberlandcycles.com

Hello all!  Hope this finds everyone well.  What a beautiful start to this Thursday.  It looks as though Spring may finally be upon us.  Truly time to ride!

Tonight the usual rides will depart from Barnesburg Baptist Church.  The first will be the “Yellow Tail Ride” leaving at 5:30.  The second will be the more aggressive of the departures, the “Crew Ride” leaving at 6:00 and I will be leaving out for a “Middle of the road ride” around 6:30.  It seems these rides have been averaging a pace as so;  around 14-16mph avg at 16-20 miles for the “Yellow Tail” crew, 18-20mph avg for 20-30 miles for the race/training “Crew” and I myself like 16-18mph avg. for around 16-20 miles.  Hopefully this will find a comfort zone for those interested.  If not, let me know and we’ll need to see about taking care of that.

As riding the same area can get a little repetitious after awhile, I would like to remind everyone that if you have a ride you would like to introduce to the group please plan a group ride.  I know most are up for some new sights and sounds.  JT and I have been talking and even mentioned having one night a week leave out from a different area.  Any ideas?????  The Nancy area has been mentioned.  Looking for some ideas and input here……………..

Time to show some local support!

As some may have heard the Cumberland Cycles Crew Race season has gotten off to some very exciting starts.  For a foundation year the team shows some tremendous promise.  A special Congrats! To Adam Bourne who has apparently stepped into his element.  Adam just continues to excel with a current standing of 6th in the state of Kentucky in his category.  Very impressive.

This weekend the team riders will travel to Lexington for a circuit race.  This is a great opportunity for us all to rally together and cheer the “CREW” on.  I will be closing the shop on Saturday and traveling to Lexington to be on the sidelines.  ANYONE INTERESTED??????  I would love to see a big local crowd there sporting Cumberland Cycles colors to help cheer on the team.  I would love to get enough to consider even some carpools and maybe even a big meal together.  Depending on the venue I will even be taking the shop tent and mechanical support to set up at the race.  We could all hang out together and have our presence heard.  I know the team would enjoy the cheering.  I would find out some more details today and send out another email about the traveling plans.  If you are interested please send me an email or call to let me know.  Outside of the Regional race in London this will be the closest venue, so come one, come ALL!!!

As usual, a few new e-mails have been added to the list so try and use this mailing for any info you might want to send to the “Cumberland Cycles Crew”.  As mentioned before, just hit reply to all, give your message some kind of new subject, type the message and send.  Using this mail will ensure that you are reaching the most updated list of those interested.  Again, any additions or deletions just let me know.

As for product, theseason is upon us and the shop is stocked:

For those interested in maximum benefits for their work, the Hammer Nutrition products are the key and our shelves are stocked.  Everyone that has even dabbled in the program has had great benefits to report.  I now have a few shop copies of their book “The Endurance Athlete’s Guide to Success”.  If you are interested, just stop in to borrow a copy and learn  “everything you need to know about optimum caloric, electrolyte, and fluid intake” for athletes.

For you ladies out there, I just received a new load of jerseys.  After numerous requests, tank tops inparticular.  I got “Racerback” tanks, thin strap tanks, “support” tanks, and some more sleeveless styles.  I even brought in some of these new fangled “skorts”.    I was able to grab a number of deals on these items so numbers are limited at these sale prices.  Swing in and get first dibs.  Guys, no worries, also got some new jerseys for you, no thin strap tanks though!  Sorry, might try a ladies if you really desire! J  Admittedly, my jersey supply is probably a little overboard so please come check out the selection and help put my mind at ease.  Almost every jersey on the rack is on sale.

Also got the Tifosi Eyewear case stocked to the gills.  Come see what style fits you.  Choose from various designs, mens and womens, small and large frame styles depending on your “bucket”, a number of which are new for 2007, including new colors too.  All styles range from $30 to $60, including the glasses, multiple lenses, a hard case and a soft cleaning case to boot.  Substantially less than any competitors eyewear with all the same features.

One last mention for the ladies, I also just got in some new bar tape and water bottle cages in more “feminine” colors.  Again, not that you guys can’t buy them if you want.  Colors include more pinks, purples, blues and “melons”.  Sport some new fresh looks for the season

As always, please remember, if you need it and I don’t have it, I’ll get it.  Just let me know.

Again, thank you all for your continued support.  It seems obvious the numbers are just continuing, to grow.  The more cyclists we have the more we are seen, hence, the safer we will be.

Ride On, Ride Safe, Livestrong!!!!

Crew News

www.cumberlandcycles.com

Hello Crew!~

It seems that we've survived the recent cold snap!  Tonight's ride at Barnsburg was fat and fast as usual!  Since I am nearly up to 5,000 miles in this training/racing year, I have been concentrating on raising the pace in our recent club rides. I thought it would have an effect, but it seems that EVERYBODY IS GETTING VERY STRONG!  The average pace of our team rides is going right on up our rides have gotten more like race-simulation training!  I really didn't think everybody would get so strong so fast!  The Crew has at last a dozen guys that can stay within a few seconds of our fastest pace.  Just at the point I thought I would raise the pace, everybody else matched it!  I am so pleased!

While the team rides at Barnsburg have been well populated, the moderate, Yellow Tail ride has had some nice rides as well, although not with the same numbers as the team rides. We'd like to get more folks out to ride with our 5:30 Crew.  Our moderate rides at Barnsburg are important to our club. First of all, It is a place for folks to learn about cycling. After that, it is a ride on which all of us could take the time to enjoy the scenery and nature and actually recovery our minds, spirits and bodies (which is exactly why most people ride bikes in the first place!)

RECENT RACES
The Road Racers all went to Chattanooga last Sunday and participated in the largest race so far this year.  Raccoon Mountain Road Race.  JT, Brad Herman and Adam Bourne all went down to race in the brutal event!  It was very cold, raining and snowing, and windy.  Add to this the terrain, and you have a recipe for suffering!  JT did better than he thought he would in the race, and even though he was dropped on the mountain poprtion of the race, he was able to work with two Honda riders and chased down the pack. JT ended up not finishing due to getting too cold, but he was pleased with his effort. Brad used the event as training and was pleased with his participation and his effort as well. Adam obtained his highest finish to date this year with 4th place in the CAT V 30+ race!  Since this was a Division I points level race, we look forward to seeing Adams USA Cycling Ranking after the results are official.

Jeff Parmelee and David Zwick competed in the Team Magic PowerMan Duathlon last Sunday and both of them did well. Jeff placed 20th in his field and Dave placed 3rd!!  Our

UP AND COMING RACING

Versailles Triathlon - Saturday, April 21
All of our multi-sport athletes are going to be competing at the Falling Heart and Sole Triathlon this Saturday, April 21 in Versailles, Kentucky. We want to wish this great luck in this event and we look forward to awarding club points to all of those who participate!  If you are in the Versailles area, please consider going out to support our Multi-sport athletes. Here is the race info:  http://www.trifind.com/ky.html

Lexington Circuit Race, Saturday, April 21
The last race of the Kentucky/Indiana Spring Series is this Saturday in Lexington!  This will provide a great opportunity for our friends and family's to dive up and watch a bike race!  It is a circuit race and it will be held on a 1.9 mile circuit... So spectators will get the chance to actually watch each race as it unfolds. All of our road cyclists are planning to attend this event, and we genuinely hope that we can get some area supporters to come up and support us!  It will be an entire day of racing, as each category takes the course for a 45 minute slug fest!  The race information may be found here:  Lexington Spring Circuit Race

EDGAR SOTO MEMORIAL STAGE RACE
Our largest bicycle race of the year is approaching very soon. It will be held down in Nashville over Memorial Day Weekend. Four days of racing!  Edgar Soto Memorial Stage Race   My Dad and stepmother (Wally and Marry) have offered to host our team at thier home over this weekend. This would include a couple of great evening meals and possible overnight acomadations for 2 or 3 riders. Wally and Marry have been long supports of cyclists and have provided food and shelter for starving cyclists for many years. Over the years, they have had many world class riders stay with them, including Lance (when he was a junior rider).

Start making plans now for Edgar Soto!

Crew News

www.cumberlandcycles.com

Hello Crew!~

It seems cooler weather hasn't dampened the Cumberland Cycles Spirits!  Adam Bourne raced this past weekend in the KY/IN Spring Series Race in Louisville and even though it was very cold, he managed to escape the race with a 6th place finish!  This result has moved Adam up to be the 12th ranked CAT V Road Racer in the state of Kentucky.  Adam plans to move up to CAT IV soon!

The racing crew had a good ride on Saturday in the cold!  The five of us went to "confession" just moments before the ride - made statements that we were insane for riding on such a cold day, but then took refuge in the fact that Adam is obviously crazier than all of us, going to race!

BARNSBURG
The ride last Tuesday night was fast and fat!  We had twelve riders show up, all of which finished at about the same time!  According to Mark H., it was the fastest the course had ever been covered!  This may have been due to the size of the pack - so many riders can move much faster, but it was also a very much "contested" ride.... Adam, JT, Jack, Roger and Chuck forced the pace to be high!  It was a very enjoyable ride.  It was a ride that uncovered some evidence of some powerful riders emerging in our group. Nick C. and Aaron D. are showing remarkable progress and since these fellows are both still in their 20s, we very much look forward to continued progress for these fellows.

Thursday nights ride was just as enjoyable as Tuesdays, even though it was much cooler!  We had two ladies ride with the team tonight; Charley and Kate.  It was a joy to have them along with us!

RACING APRIL 15
The team will be racing at Raccoon Mountain Road Race in Chattanooga this Sunday.  It appears to be a very grueling race with over 5,000 feet of vertical relief over the race course.

RACING APRIL 21
The team will only have to travel as far as Lexington on April 21 for the last of the Kentucky/Indiana Spring Series Races!  This would be a great event to come spectate!!!!!

SAFETY
With our club/team rides getting much fatter, it is time we talked about the safety of our crew. Our team rides are getting fast and will only get faster.  Remember, that your personal safety is a matter only you have control over. There have been many times in road races, the pace of the race was frightening to me and I was unwilling to take those personal risks. Every bicycle rider has to manage their own risks - especially when the paces get elevated.

If you are ever uncomfortable with your own safety, please drop out of the pace. That will most certainly be respected.

Also, we want our riders, even in the mists of hard riding, to obey common sense. With our team/club rides getting so large, please think about what you are doing at all times. For example, it is never a good idea to cross the center-line, especially in a blind curve. We, as cyclists, must obey the traffic rules, so please be mindful of this.

Let's keep everybody as safe as we possibly can for as long as we can.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Our rides in the Barnsburg area are getting large and fast.  We want to be as courteous as we possibly can with our gracious hosts in that area. Please remember that even though we have a right to be up there riding on those roads, we need to think of ourselves as their guests!  Please take any opportunity you can to be friendly and courteous to drivers and people in our training area. This includes making every effort to get into single file lines when traffic needs to pass!

April 7 Weekend Events

www.cumberlandcycles.com

It's been a very cold weekend!  Thankfully, I had a good excuse to not race this weekend;  my 15 year old son was visiting me for Easter.  The team was able to get in a 25 mile ride to White Lilly and Haynes Knob - Jack, Harvey, Mark, JT and Aaron all rode in the snow flurries. We started the ride at 31 deg F and finished it at about 37 yet it was the coldest ride so far this year!  Even colder than rides in the teens back in the winter!  Aaron put is exactly right:  Either we are men or idiots!  Also, it has been a rest and recovery week for me, so I took it easy without any guilt!

For our sole team rider who mustered the courage (in this cold) to go to Louisville and race in the continuing Kentucky/Indiana Spring Series, hats off!  Mr. Adam Bourne strikes again!!!  Not only did Adam brave the cold and snow, he got away with a break and was able to win 6th place in the "Fallen Heroes Circuit Race" on Saturday!!!!!  With everything we are seeing from Adam, I think it is pretty much a forgone conclusion that Adam is our current road racing star.  Congratulations to Adam!  We very much look forward to more!

I would also like to recognize the finishes of two of our adopted riders.  Both of these fellows ride for and are loyal to other teams, but we think of them as "team mates" because they are friends of our shop and our club.  Therefore like to point out their successes.

Mr. Eric Barnett, who comes down to Somerset to ride with our crew from time to time, races for Pedal Power in Lexington.  I have heard that he was able to place 3rd in the CAT III/IV race in Louisville today!  Congratulations to Eric for this result!!!!!

Mr. Bob Brooks, a long time friend and coach of JTs raced in the CAT I/II/III race in Louisville today and was able to score an ST field finish!  He was pleased because he was very active in the race and we are pleased for him!

Mark Henry and several other of our TRI riders are going to continue competing soon and we wish them good luck!  We also want to remind them to inform the shop or JT of their race starts and finishes as our club pays club points for this, sanctioned or not.

DOGWOOD WINTER
Remember- Marc still has winter riding cloths on the racks down at the shop!  Please don't stop riding just because it's gotten a little cooler!  Go on out and buy some winter gear - wear it for a week or so and put it away for next fall and winter!

Cumberland Cycles News - April 4

Hello Crew!~

I just wanted to remind everybody with enough advance warning that we have three of our five most important races quickly approaching!  These include the following:

May 25  Edgar Soto Memorial Stage Race

We also have smaller racers just about every weekend from now until the end of the year.   These include a KY/IN Series race in Louisville this coming weekend in Louisville and a KY/IN Series Circuit race in Lexington, April 21.

We also have a very significant century tour coming up soon in Chattanooga called the 3-state 3 mountain challenge:

May 5 - 3-State 3-Mountain

RECENT RIDES AND RACES
The team ride consisted of about 20 riders last Tuesday, with eighteen finishing pretty much together. Mr. Eric Barnett, from Lexington  (Team Pedal Power) joined us for our ride and it was nice having him along!  The pace was fast, but everybody stayed pretty much together with Adam and Jeff C. at or off the front much of the time!  It is hard to believe how strong everybody is getting!

DOGWOOD WINTER
Remember- Marc still has winter riding cloths on the racks down at the shop!  Please don't stop riding just because it's gotten a little cooler!  Go on out and buy some winter gear - wear it for a week or so and put it away for next fall and winter!

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
I would like to take a moment and share some personal information with you all. This month, April, will mark the 19th anniversary of my retirement from bicycle racing!  Prior to this year (2007) the last time I raced was in April of 1989!  I had not raced nor even ridden a bike (to speak of) for 19 years!

The first of April also marks my seventh month back on a bicycle!  I spent those 19 years in between being a geologist and raising my Son!  I don't regret it at all!  But I am really glad to have rediscovered my passion for cycling.

I know that a lot of our club members believe that some people are naturally better athletes than others are. Some also believe that I may be one of those rare physical specimens.  While I do believe that some people can be more naturally gifted than others, I do not believe that I am any more gifted than anybody else!  I simply do not believe it. What I do have is an understanding that to get fast on a bike, simply requires passion and dedication.  I am not even that dedicated!  I just love riding my bike so the miles are easy for me (at least for now).

It is never easy racing bikes. While there are many many very valuable aspects to bike racing and training, there are times it is brutally difficult. Training in the coldest days of winter.... trying to survive an all out attack in a race.... crashing. It is a path filled with heartache, physical pain and disappointment, but it is also one of the most fulfilling paths I have every known.

I say all of this because I wanted you to know, I do not see my self as particularly gifted. I see myself as passionate. This passion leads me to train when others would not. It leads me to do something with regard to my cycling goals every single day of my life (during the last seven months). My day may call for rest... or it may call for hard intervals.  It always requires me to eat right and rest.  Even though I hate to train in the cold and rain, I know that this is what is necessary to do what I want to do!  I realize that cycling is not always pleasant.  I also know that I am required to take my beatings and floggings as they come.... and stand strong even though I feel humiliated and discouraged. This is what makes me stronger, and not because I am anything but an average, normal athlete.

I think it is almost exactly how my artist friend Peggy paints the way she does.  It is a matter of keeping the brush moving, even when I don't feel like it and being focused not on what I have on the canvas at any given time but what I hope to put there. A perfect metaphor.... Even the best artists begin with a completely blank canvas!

It is easy to train when we feel good and feel like riding... it is when it is cold and wet and dreary - yet we still get out and train - we become very strong. When we show up to races or rides knowing that we are going to get beaten or dropped, yet will still show up!  This is when we earn our rites to succeed.

I see so much of this in our club - in our team - in our Crew!  And I am proud of what is happening here.

News- April 3

Hello Crew!~

CLUB/TEAM BLOG/RESULTS: Cumberland Cycles Crew Club Blog

We held our second club time trial of 2007 last Sunday and the turnout was just great!  We had 21 participants.  We had several club members come out and help without whom we'd have a hard time doing this event.  We also had several spectators!

We want to send out a heartfelt "Thank you" to everybody who came out!!!!  Riders!  Helpers!!!  And spectators!!!

There was a new course record set at the event by Mr. David Hayes from London, Kentucky.  He is a Category II Rider and is currently racing for Ohio Valley Velo. He was able to post a time 3 seconds faster than the pervious course record.  We had several riders from the London Bike Shop participate as well as a couple of riders form the Pedal Power Team out of Lexington.  We want to thank these folks for traveling over to our club event!

There were a couple of circumstances that warrant attention at our time trail event.  Dr. Mark Henry, one of Cumberland Cycles multi-sport athletes, has been on a mission trip to Central America this past week and only arrived back into Somerset 12 hours before our club event (in the wee hours of the morning) - still - having not trained at all the entire week before, Dr. Henry chose to come out and participate in our club event!  I wouldn't have been so brave!  Also - Due to a family medical emergency, another one of our club riders unexpectedly gave blood the day before the club event, yet he still choose to come out and join us!  And we had a third rider who has been very sick for the past couple of weeks and he still came out to post a time!

Also, Charles Senters Flatted, and was able to change his wheel and still post a time under 26 minutes!!!!!

These are three examples of what makes a great club!!!  Our riders are coming out to participate even though they know their life-circumstances have left them vulnerable to diminished performances.  Yet they still choose to come and post a time!  Like I said - I usually take any excuse I can get!  Hat's off to you fellows!

I also want to express how important our volunteers are to our club and our events!  For our club riders and our shop owner and his wife to spend their Sunday afternoons taking care of every thing that needs to be done for our Crew to have a good time trial is a lot to ask and this is the very backbone of a strong team and club!  Hats off to you ladies and fellows!

Finally - Thanks to Jack Evans.  This event is his "baby".  He started it a couple of years ago and has been conducting it a few times a year. I appreciate him getting this started!  For the next event - we will probably choose a weekend when no large races are going on, and send out regional invitations. Our next club time trial will be in four to six weeks.  STAY TUNED!

The results of the time trial may be found here:  http://journals.aol.com/moonsovrbend/2007-barnsburg-time-trial-series/

Jenny Denny took some photos at the event and these may be found here: http://blogs.accessextreme.com/aaron/extra/2007_04_01_CCC_TT/index.htm

CLUB STANDINGS:
Cumberland Cycles racers were not eligible for placement points at the time trial last Sunday but our club riders were.  We had several club riders move up in club points due to their participation in last Sunday's event.   CLUB STANDINGS

RECENT RIDES AND RACES
The club has had some nice rides out at Barnsburg on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The racing crew has had some fast rides with as many as eight riders showing up!  The Yellow Tail Ride has gotten some new participants and they are having some good rides too!

The team rode 40 miles last Saturday in the hills and it was a very nice ride!  We were very glad to see Mr. Aaron Denny come out to ride with the Racing Crew because we see him as one of our most promising young  riders!  Here is his blog:  Aaron’s Blog

ROAD RACING
After a couple of weeks off, road racing will resume for our road crew on April 7: Fallen Heroes Circuit Race in Louisville which is a Kentucky/Indiana Spring Series Race.  I will not be attending this race because my Son, Jon Boy will be coming to Somerset for the Easter Weekend!

FIRST 2007 MAJOR TEAM EVENT: TWO WEEKS FROM NOW

CUMBERLAND CYCLES TIME TRIAL TEAM
The Monrovia Time Trial Series (Indiana) allows four-person time trial teams to post 40K times!  We are planing to post a four-man 40K time sometime during this series (This summer).  If you are interested - please let us know.  We have enough strong riders to compose two separate teams!  But since this series is a mid-week event and not many of our club riders can simply take a day off from work to drive up to Indiana - we will compose a main team with 4 alternates.  But we need to drill drill and drill!  So we need to get started right away.  There are 15 events from now until September 8 and we may post our time at any one (or more) of these events.  Our team goal for this year will not be to compete with other teams but to complete the course (25 miles) in under one hour

CUMBERLAND CYCLES
Remember- Marc is taking orders for 2007 CCC Jerseys for use NOW.  Let Marc know if you need a new Cumberland Cycles Jersey!

Winter clothing down at the shop is on sale for about another week so get on down there and stock up for the 07/08 cold weather training season!  (We are planning on starting on 2008 club base training November 1 - 2007)  It is not too early to begin thinking about next winter and spring!

Remember, it is suppose to get cold later this week, so go down to the shop and buy yourself some winter cloths, break them in during our up and coming dogwood winter, then put them away for next year!

Our club will be updating our uniforms for the 2008 racing season.  This may include multisport clothing i think.  We are planing to have a uniform meeting some time this summer or early fall - Stay tuned!

Also - we are looking for sponsors for the 2008 racing season - Keep this in mind!

Finally - in terms of riders - remember now is the time to start recruiting for 2008!  We need riders of any level and any age to begin laying down foundations now!  Please spread the word that we plan to have a very active and powerful team next year!!!!

LOOSE ENDS
We have so many new riders - I have been asked to pass along something I did not actually know.  Our club is welcome to park at the Barnsburg Church for our rides but the church requests that we park in the lower parking lot.
