Crew News - August 28

Hello Crew!

RACE SIMULATION - WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT MEECE MIDDLE SCHOOL
EVENT START:  6:30 pm

This is a very short, very fast course.  Be advised that it may not work out.  There may be school events at the field that would prevent us from doing it.  But show up anyway, and we will simulate a race to the Barnsburg Church if the parking lot is not available!

Hard Team Ride Thursday
Instead of doing hill repeats this Thursday, the "team" will meet at Barnsburg and ride an aggressive ride - probably the usual but to include coal pit.

TEAM DEVELOPMENT
All this talk of race simulation and hard rides - we are focusing our racers on our final events which are to occur with in the next three weeks. A lot of our crew has been racing since last February, so our efforts as a shop team are focused on "peaking" our folks who have been racing all year.  We are all focused on Tour De London.

All of this may sound as if we are excluding are non-racing or beginning crew, but rest assured, we are not. We simply want to field the strongest possible team at the London race as we can. Our racing crew has several thousands of miles in this year and over a hundred races.  We want to take these last few weeks of our first racing year to focus on them in the Kentucky Championship race.

After September 15, the shop and the team are going to promote a series of rides for beginners and tourists.  From the middle of September to the first of November, these rides will be non-aggressive and aimed at helping anybody who wants to consider racing next year.  Please, if you have an interest in racing bikes, we can put you on the path!  Now is the time to get your gear in order, and spend the fall and winter training with us!!!  No matter what shape you are in, you can do it, and we can help!

We want to "cross-pollinate" all of our groups this fall. There have been several groups riding this summer, as well as the team.  But I do not have a lot of information on the other groups, so I would like to take this fall, and have all of the area cyclists spend some time together!  A great place to start would be our annual dinner at the Doolin House!

Cumberland Cycles can do amazing things next year!!!!!  Heck, we did amazing things this year!    Don't miss out.  Now is the time to catch the wave for next year.

Barnsburg Time Trial
Barnsburg Event #6 will be held this Sunday at 2 PM.  This is an eight mile time trial along Barnsburg Road - out and back (4 miles then turn around).  Staging and parking will be at Barnsburg Church, but the start/finish is located one mile west of the church on Barnsburg Road.

You do not have to be a racer to post a time!!!!!  Come out and ride the course so you can monitor your fitness in the future. Cumberland Cycles will be conducting this series again in 2008!

Remember, the 2 PM starting is "first rider off" and you need to get checked in and get your start time between 1 PM and 145 PM at Barnsburg Church. We are hoping for a good turnout.

Volunteers needed!
