crews news November 15 - 07

Hello Crew!

Well, we've had some excellent training rides lately!  Mr. Charles Senters has been relentless in his pursuit of late-game gappage, and continues to be successful in breaking away and staying away form our training groups lately. Charles has been riding bikes for many years; Road and mountain. So he has this uncanny ability to attack when you least expect it.  Sometimes he attacks us on the open road, but our strong road riders can quickly neutralize him there.  So at other times, he attacks around a gravely corner.  If that is not successful, he will attack at the top of a dangerous and extremely fast decent... and this is where Charles usually gets his gap!  Not many of the rest of us are brave enough to decent behind him.... The exceptions are Jack Evans and Brad Herrman. When these three riders get serious about going down hill, you might as well sit up and have a drink of water... because they are G.O.N.E.!

Last Saturdays ride consisted of a test ride of the proposed Spring Training Race. Even though it was a cool day, we had a nice turnout. Roger, Jack, Brad Herrman and Charles were very active and strong. We were very pleased to have Mr. Dave Chaney, from Everybody's Bike Coach Team (Everybody's Bike Coach - A Professional Online Training Program ) join us.  It was nice having Dave with us as he kept the pace lively.

Charles, Roger, Jack, Brad Herrman and several others have been very energetic lately and it is really great to see so much good conditioning in our crew at this time of the year.

The team uniforms will be made available to anybody who wants to support our team at cost + %10.  (Racers will be eligible for uniform reimbursable at a rate to be determined after a certain number of races attempted)

The 2007 Jersey's will also be available for next year as well.

The club and team will be taking advanced orders within the next three weeks. Anybody planning to race for the team is strongly encouraged to order during this time. We are expecting shipment of our final, pre-ordered uniform sometime in January.

Our Cycling Club and Team
The Cumberland Cycles Cycling Club is a full USA Cycling affiliate, interested in promoting cycling of any kind in our community. Our Nuclear Sponsor is The Cumberland Cycles Bike and Skate Shop.  Even though we are just entering the winter season, we have many cyclists who will remain active for the remainder of the year and season. When spring, 2008 comes, our club will become more active in promoting sport and recreational cycling events and activities.

Our officers are:

       Mr. Brad Herrman, President (flyingchicken55@yahoo.com)
Mr. Charles Senters, V. President (zapodx@newwavecomm.net)
       Mr. Jack Evans, Treasurer (jevans@ehacpas.com)

The Cumberland Cycles Racing Team is sub-unit of the over all club. The only requirement to become a member of the racing team is a desire to ride a bicycle in a completive manner in 2008.  This may include road cycling races, track events, mountain bike races, and multisport events. An individual completive event will include any start (regardless of finish/or non-finish) by any individual in any road, track or multisport event wearing the Cumberland Cycles 2008 Team Uniform.
