July 1

Hello Crew!

Summer Doldrums at an Official End

June and July always bring somewhat of a downswing in cycling activity, at least in the racing scene. However, now that it is the first of July, we may begin to focus our  training efforts to the beginning of the fall racing season. It is only five weeks until the Allanti Cycling Classic in Nashville Tennessee, August 4th and 5th. This is a stage race and is also the Tennessee State Championships. Five weeks of training is perfect for our crew to train hard and micro-peak for this event.  Here is the race link:   Allanti Cycling Classic 2007 - allanti.com   Please, all hands - get ready for this race!

After Allanti, we will also have a few crtis and the large stage race, the BMW Classic later in August. Then we will all get ready to wrap up the end of the road cycling season in September with the Kentucky State Road Championships at the Tour De London and then we will have a club race that Brad Hermann is putting together for the Burnside Festival on September 15th.

We will also conduct the Barnsburg TT series through September, so look for a late September date for that event.

Team Racing Activity

While everyone else is taking the usual peak of summer off from racing, Aaron Denney and his wife Jenny have been out on a cycling extravaganza this summer, riding in the upper Midwest and doing some racing as well. Aaron and Jenny are currently in Memphis and Aaron has just completed the Marx and Bendorf Stage race with the following results:

CAT 5 Under 35 Results
RR: 16th
TT: 9th
Crit: 7th
Overall Omnium: 8th.

With the Crit Result, Aaron has moved up to take 1st place in the State of Kentucky, CAT V Crit racers!  Yet another 1st place standing for Cumberland Cycles!!!!!! www.usacycling.org -- USA Cycling National Rankings

Mid-SummerTeam/Club Ride Saturday went very well
Roger Whitlock hosted a 55 mile ride in the western Pulaski County area last Saturday Morning. It is my understanding that Roger, Jack, Jeff P., Mark H. and Charles Senters showed up for the ride and the average speed for the 55 miles was 19.8! Blistering!

Way to go Roger!  Sounds like you took the animals out for a walk without a leash!

Rides
We always ride from Barnsburg Church every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6 PM.  Please show up for the club or team rides at that time.

We also generally ride every Saturday morning from the Somerset Vision Center at 10 AM, and Sunday afternoon from the Vision Center at 2 PM.

Remember to support Cumberland Cycles in any way possible!!!!!! As Marc Says, "Ride on" - "Live Strong"
