Hello Crew!~
JT and Jack Evans met Frank Cornett (London) in McMinnville, Tennessee for the Highland Rim Road Race Saturday Morning, May 5. It was an excellent race! The road surfaces were good, the roads were wide enough to navigate up through the field, and even though it rained a little bit, at least it wasn't snowing or cold!
Highland Rim is a Division I TBRA stage race and even though Jack and JT only did the road race, Frank will be competing in the time trial and crit. This is a very tough race, and our crew (so far) made a very excellent showing. JT raced in the Masters 30/40 race, Jack raced in the 30+ CAT V and Frank raced in the Masters 60+
Jack placed 2nd (CAT V 50+) 14th over all in his field
JT placed 8th (CAT I-IV 40+) 17th over all in his field
Frank placed 4th (open CAT 60+) and 14th over all in his field
This was a grueling 55 mile single circuit road race with one major climb and one extreme decent. The race was well populated with 40-50 riders in each field. In each race, the field pretty much shattered on the 4 mile climb up the mountain but smaller packs reformed once on top for multiple pack finishes. The decent down to the finish area was, in a word, frightening! Speeds well in excess 50 MPH led right up to the finish line! And remember, this is in a pack of riders.
Not only am I very pleased with my race results, I am very glad for Jack and Frank ('cause they kicked some series butt). The competition was very stiff and all of the major teams were out in force!
JT WILL BE TRAVELING
I will be going to spend two weeks in Indianapolis with my Son in May and I will also be traveling to Colorado for a few days. I will not be participating in our club time trial on May 13 but I will certainly be in a position to blog about the results! Please put our club time trail on your calendar and come out to post a time!

2008 SPRING SERIES
In a conversation with Mr. Mike Hewett (our head USA Cycling Ref) a couple of weeks ago, Cumberland Cycles will be the likely host of one of the 2008 Spring Series Events. We have to complete our USCF club affiliation, but after that, we are clear and Mike Hewett seemed excited about having a sanctioned Series Event next spring in Somerset!!!! Mike also said that once we do get our USCF affiliation, we may report our club TT events at Barnsburg for USA Cycling Rankings!
CUMBERLAND CYCLES
Support Cumberland Cycles and our team! We are having a great year so far... much more than I expected.... Next year, 2008, I am certain that Cumberland Cycles will publish a team that will gain a good deal of respect in our region. We already have!
Please take moment to view our new club standings for the 23 individuals who have competed this year for Cumberland Cycles!
