Hello Crew!~
Wow - we have had so many great rides and races lately, I'm not sure where to begin! The team ride at Barnsburg continues to be very well populated and I am so happy about that. Everybody is getting very fit, and I am certain that the 20 minute barrier on our Barnsburg TT course will be broken on our May 13 trial date. Not only will I not be the one to break through that barrier, unfortunately, I will not even be participating. (More on that later.)
There were no major races scheduled last weekend but that did not prevent Roger Whitlock from driving to Indianapolis to participate in the Monrovia 40K Individual TT! Perhaps the most grueling event in cycling! Roger is very well versed in undulating terrain, but the winds of central Indiana surprised him! Roger said that the course was almost perfectly flat but very windy! EXACTLY WHAT WE DO NOT HAVE HERE IN PULASKI! Hats off to Roger for putting Cumberland Cycles in that Series.
Adam Bourne and JT visited JT's father last weekend and what a great weekend it was. They rode with the Gran Fondo Team on Saturday morning and it was a great, fast and populated ride. Adam got a little tangled up with the 2005 Tennessee CAT II BAR POINTS winner - a fellow that weighs about 115 pounds soaking wet - but he and I together fared very well on the ride.
The Crew will be racing at Highland Rim Cycling Classic this Saturday in a 2.5 Mile uphill time trail and a 55 mile road race. This event is in McMinville Tennessee. We will have a team ride on Sunday from the Vision Center at 2 PM.
2008 SPRING SERIES
In a conversation with Mr. Mike Hewett (our head USA Cycling Ref) a couple of weeks ago, Cumberland Cycles will be the likely host of one of the 2008 Spring Series Events. We have to complete our USCF club affiliation, but after that, we are clear and Mike Hewett seemed excited about having a sanctioned Series Event next spring in Somerset!!!! Mike also said that once we do get our USCF affiliation, we may report our club TT events at Barnsburg for USA Cycling Rankings!
BARNSBURG TIME TRAIL
Our club tt event will be held on May 13 @ 2 PM - Please come out to participate! I honestly believe that the 20 minute barrier will be broken at this event by any one of several individuals. As it turns out, I will not be in town for the event, but I willcertainly make the next event.

DEVELOPMENT
We have many cyclists that are not ready to participate in our team rides. It is very important that we provide a ride for up and coming crew members. The Yellow Tail Group leaves Barnsburg Church at 530 PM every Tuesday and Thursday. We also have an interest in a "Middle of the Road" group leaving the church at 630 Pm every Tuesday and Thursday. The Team ride leaves the church at 6 pm every Tuesday and Thursday.
With the 2007 racing season very well underway, we want to start focusing on 2008. Cumberland Cycles, as a road team, will all begin training for the 2008 season the First Saturday of November, 2007.
2007 YEAR END CELEBRATION
Cumberland Cycles Crew/Club/Team will be having an awards Banquet sometime in October at the Doolin House in Somerset. Stay Tuned.
CUMBERLAND CYCLES
Support Cumberland Cycles and our team! We are having a great year so far... much more than I expected.... Next year, 2008, I am certain that Cumberland Cycles will publish a team that will gain a good deal of respect in our region. We already have!
