Eric Barnett/ Team Captian of Mullett Ranch/McDonalds Team is a friend of Cumberland Cycles

The Mullet Ranch Crew is a very fine and competitive team and they are all very good people!  We are proud to consider them our friends. When you see them at races, greet them kindly. Expect them to be kind in return... but be prepared for them to kick some butt in your race!

Crew News - April 7

123 race at Mt. Victory

Tonight's club and team ride at Barnsburg was very well attended. We had the general team ride, two separate club rides and a women's ride. Our club filled the parking lot at the church, and it seemed to me, everybody managed to fit right into the ride of their suiting. It made me very happy to see so many of our club and team members out riding tonight. I think we probably had 30 riders in various groups out tonight. AND THAT IS AWSUM.

Thursday night there will be another club and team ride and the temps are supposed to be in the 80's.  I hope we can have another great turnout.

Since I was on the team ride, that is the only report I can give:  The team left the church and proceeded to do the 17 mile Cannon Ball loop.  There were club points available at the top of Cannon Ball Hill and final point available back at the church - both of which Adam Bourne won. We had seven riders on our ride and everybody is riding very well, especially Nick Cabrini. Nick was awarded 10 extra club points for the most improved rider recently. Charles Senters and Adam Bourne combined themselves against JT and Jack Evans and really did some damage. We are going to have to seperate those two sometime soon!  It was a fun ride and it was especailly rewarding seeing Nick ride so well.

Everybody seemed to have a great time and I hope we can continue to build our numbers... It is such a great time of the year to ride!!!  And there are several groups forming so I am sure you can find a group that will pace at your comfort level!!!

The team will be racing in race #5 of 8 in the Ky/In Spring Road Series this Saturday in Louisville. Sunday there will be a team ride from the Vision Center at 2 PM.

Crew News

http://www.cumberlandcycles.com/index.html

Well Crew, The Kentucky/Indiana Spring Training Series is half over.  Four races are done, and there are four races left. The Series will conclude with on the weekend of April 19th with two races that weekend in the Louisville area.

What is truly outstanding is the fact that The Cumberland Cycles Racing Crew has had  a total of  31 individual starts in the first four races of the series!  With our great looking uniforms on that many shoulders combined with the overwhelming success of our own race in the Series, Mt. Victory, I believe we are getting noticed!!!!

Even though all of our riders are "long shots"  and not really in striking distance of winning the overall series, we do have several riders who are on the score board in the series. These individual scores belong to Adam Bourne, Debra Fortenberry, Jenny Denney, Aaron Denney, Charles Senters and JT

So far, we have had some good success with the racing - considering that it is technically our first year as an official team. Our highest place to date is that of Adam Bourne, 5th in the CAT 4/5 race at Mt. Victory.  Ms. Debra Fortenberry placed 7th in the women's race at Mt. Victory with Jenny Denney placing 8th in that same race. Charles Senters and JT both had 8th place finishes at the Booneboro Criterium; Charles in the 4/5 race and JT in the 3/4 race.  Aaron Denney placed 9th at Boonsboro as well. The remainder of our finishes have included very good field finishes in the 20 and 30 place range.... which is very respectable considering there are several national champions racing in this series.

Based on these results - I would have to say, we have a team here my friends!!!!!  And this is not counting some very high results from our multi-sport crowd this spring as well!!!

When the series concludes in three weeks, we will begin to race in Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, Arkansas and Ohio.  These races will include stage races, and Omniums. We are headed for a very outstanding racing year!!!  It is all so much more than I expected!!!  God Bless everyone of you - and please let me know what I can do to help you if you'd like to start racing bikes.

I think it would be neat if we could hold a "bike racing" informational seminar at the YMCA sometime soon with some classes on bike racing and some rides to get some interested persons ready to start the series in 2009.

BARNSBURG TIME TRIAL THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 6, AT 2 PM.. This is a non-sanctioned, ride at your own risk event and is open to the public. Please come out and join us.
